Infotrieve ensures that documents are copied and delivered in a copyright-compliant manner in one of three ways:
- Infotrieve copies and delivers a document only where the publisher or rights-holder has granted express permission to do so through a direct agreement with Infotrieve. These agreements specify under which conditions a document may be copied and distributed. Infotrieve has direct relationships and agreements with 140 + Publishers.
- In the instance where Infotrieve does not have an agreement with a publisher pursuant to a specific document, copyright permission for this document may be obtained through a Reproductive Rights Organization (“RRO”) as applicable.
- In the instance where copyright permission is not available through a RRO, Infotrieve will contact the publisher or rights-holder directly to secure authorization to copy and disseminate a document accordingly.
In the event Infotrieve cannot compliantly obtain copyright permission, the end-user ordering the document is notified and the requested document is not delivered.
The price of most documents delivered by Infotrieve includes a copyright royalty fee which is established by the publisher or rights-holder.
All documents are delivered to an end-user with a copyright notice that generally prohibits against any further use of the document without securing the appropriate copyright permission.
