Creating a Private and Secure Social Networking Environment |
Accelerating organizational growth and fostering innovation hinges on employees working together and sharing knowledge, but there are barriers to a consistent communications flow. Some are physical - many companies have offices in multiple cities worldwide, where face-to-face, or even voice-to-voice interaction is limited. Some are functional – employees often operate within their discipline's silo, and may not be aware of what correlative work exists within their own organizations.
Social networking, with all of its unique capabilities, can help employees bridge these divides, but it is not without shortcomings. Privacy, security and limited internal support resources are all common concerns for a broad-scale adoption of social networking within the workplace.
As part of our cloud-based Mobile Library™ solutions suite, Infotrieve has introduced a private, fully-secure service for social networking and collaboration. Users can create virtual work groups to share and collaborate on documents and other work products, provide input and receive feedback through annotating, commenting,
rating and reviewing, and follow people and information throughout the organization in a fully secure environment. Content and conversations are full-text searchable and automatically organized and cross-referenced based on user-defined tags. To ensure up-to-the-minute awareness, automatic alerts are delivered when relevant content is revised, flagged and added to the shared workspace or purchased by a working group member.
In addition to social media and collaboration services, the Mobile Library provides anywhere, anytime access to all corporate-licensed electronic content and personal content along with access to the world's largest STM collection. With the Mobile Library, users can seamlessly switch from their iPad, to PC or Mac without skipping a beat, as their workspace is automatically synched across platforms. The Mobile Library also offers users sophisticated full text searching along with their own personal library, and a host of content discovery and alerting capabilities. Exciting Enhancements to Content SCM & Mobile Library |
In mid-April we'll be releasing exciting updates to the Content SCM® platform and the Mobile Library.
Content SCM® (including Virtual Library™ 2.0 and Virtual Library™ 2.0+) will include full-text searching of documents making it very easy to find relevant content. In addition, the update includes access to abstracts, the ability to search by author and customization of the dashboard including the capability to add RSS feeds.
Mobile Library, both on the web and the iPad app, will feature a full suite of social media and collaboration tools which will allow users to create colleague groups in which to share, follow and work together seamlessly, all in a secure and fully copyright compliant fashion. Because they are available only through the secure Mobile Library infrastructure, these social networking capabilities will provide researchers with a truly unique, cloud-based collaborative platform. Intellectual property and R&D conversations will remain completely confidential internal discussions within the protected network. Utilizing these tools will provide users with all the benefits of a boarderless office, including
a secure, modern venue for collaboration, and eliminate the concerns that come with the public nature of traditional, consumer social networking platforms.
New implementations on Content SCM are increasing at a fast pace. We're up to 300,000 end-users working in 80 countries from nearly 6,000 companies. |
